St. Paul has a traditional offering on Sunday mornings and evening Lenten and Advent services, during which we pass the plate. However, we are also equipped to receive funds via automatic transfer, whether it’s for a one-time donation or an ongoing offering. If you choose to set up an ongoing offering, it can be done weekly, semi-monthly (on the 1st and 15th of each month), or monthly (on the 1st OR 15th). Donations can be made by credit card or by transfer from a bank account. For those who have chosen to do this, we have cards at the ushers’ table that you can pick up on your way into worship stating “We give through electronic transfer.” Simply put the card in the offering plate when it passes by, to eliminate the discomfort of letting it pass by without putting something in.
A donation to the General Fund helps to pay for the mortgage, building maintenance, utilities, staff salaries, worship and education supplies, things that keep the church afloat. Funds that are earmarked for Benevolence help to pay our pledged amount to the ELCA, which gets used for their administration and ministries. “Pool of Siloam” refers to a donation toward local benevolence, here in Winterset and Madison County. Donations to this fund are matched by a donor within our congregation and are used to help people in need of everything from rent, to utilities, to fuel, to medications, etc.
