It is also an introduction of Paul to God’s beloved in Rome. In an individualistic culture like that of the U.S., it may seem startling to see one introduce oneself not with descriptions of one’s own characteristics and interests and identities, but with an introduction rooted in a lineage. “Set apart for the gospel … promised beforehand through his prophets … concerning his Son, who was descended from David … with power according to the spirit …” While this is Paul’s apostolic identity, it is also ours. Rooting the very essence of who we are in a baptismal identity that intends to “bring about the obedience of faith” for those who follow Jesus “through whom we have received grace.” And it is a summons to discipleship “including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ … who are called to be saints.” Monday morning Coffee Fellowship has been POSTPONED for the month of December. We are not going to have Monday morning coffee in December. We will start again in January after the holidays. A reminder: IF Winterset schools are delayed or canceled, we will not have coffee either those days. Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the front most classroom near the church office. During the class, we invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. |
Help is needed for those experiencing hunger in Madison County. Donations of the following items would be most appreciated:
canned fruits and vegetables
peanut butter and jelly
pasta and sauce
cereal
soups
macaroni and cheese
Also, shampoo and deodorant
You may place your contribution in the grocery cart. A basket will be included for monetary donations. Checks should be made payable to MATURA.
Choir. Choir practices on Wednesdays, September-May at 7:10pm- 8:15pm. All are welcome.
Severe Weather. As the winter season is upon us, our church follows the school closings. If Winterset schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather, there will be NO church activities. For weekend services and for general purposes, please use your own judgement.
