Imagine this melody’s might to unleash all the way through history into our present realities. Feel the intensity of these lyrics through the floorboards of our lives. God’s identity and presence pulse through them. God’s promise to all who fret is unceasing: they are not alone: “I have called you…I have taken you by the hand and kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord” (vv. 6-8a) As worry and grief surfaces and then subsides, from every angle, God’s people are surprisingly supported no matter what comes. The grace of God will set them—and us—free. Memorial Service for Twila Seibert: A memorial service for Twila Seibert will be held at St. Paul on January 9 at 2:00 pm. There will be a reception following the service. Help Needed: The church has looked beautiful for the last month but it is now time to put the Christmas decorations away. We will be putting them away after the service on Sunday, January 11. Please consider staying to help pack them away. Monday morning Coffee Fellowship has been POSTPONED for the month of January. We are not going to have Monday morning coffee in January. We will start again in February after the holidays. A reminder: IF Winterset schools are delayed or canceled, we will not have coffee either those days. Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the front most classroom near the church office. During the class, we invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. |
Help is needed for those experiencing hunger in Madison County. Donations of the following items would be most appreciated:
canned fruits and vegetables
peanut butter and jelly
pasta and sauce
cereal
soups
macaroni and cheese
Also, shampoo and deodorant
You may place your contribution in the grocery cart. A basket will be included for monetary donations. Checks should be made payable to MATURA.
Choir. Choir practices on Wednesdays, September-May at 7:10pm- 8:15pm. All are welcome.
Severe Weather. As the winter season is upon us, our church follows the school closings. If Winterset schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather, there will be NO church activities. For weekend services and for general purposes, please use your own judgement.
