It is interesting to watch how the pope is presented in a high and lofty way. He wears very elaborate robes and addresses people from a very high balcony. Yet the news media tells us that Pope Leo is very down to earth and friendly to all people. In the reading from Colossians, the Apostle Paul begins with a very high and lofty description of Jesus (vs. 15-20). By the end of verse 20, we could conclude that Jesus is so high and lofty that he is unapproachable. But then Paul writes “But now, by means of the physical death of his Son, God has made you his friends.” (vs. 22 TEV) We are friends of Jesus rather than puppets of a mighty king. If you need proof, look to the cross where Jesus was willing to die for us because of his loving friendship with us. “Join us for Meeting on Monday! ![]() Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the front most classroom near the church office. During the class, we invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. |

Furniture Ministry Storage and Giving. The Furniture Ministry continues to be a calling for so many of our congregants. You donate your home goods, you help load and unload it, and you identify those in need. The Annual Meeting Report from February 2025 shows that 58 families donated furniture and 50 families received furniture. We had monetary donations of $4535 to help with storage rent. Now, we are losing the donated space of a two-car garage, and so we are in need of an equivalent space replacement, if at all possible. Please reach out if you have space to hold furniture while it is in transition between giver and receiver by contacting Lisa Vossekuil or Wayne Martens. Thank you for your support of this ministry!
Lutheran Disaster Response to Texas Floods. Our hearts break anew with each update about the catastrophic flash floods in South Central Texas. We join the Rev. Sue Briner, bishop of the Southwestern Texas Synod, in her call to “pray, pray, pray for those who are still lost as well as the families of those who are lost, who have died, or who have experienced loss of home or property.” As ever and with your support, the ELCA, through Lutheran Disaster Response, stands ready to walk with our neighbors in the Texas hill country as the floodwaters recede and communities begin to navigate life on the other side of this horrific flood.
May we be bearers of the hope found in Christ alone and help shoulder the burden for those who grieve unimaginable loss. You may give through St Paul with your offering specifically earmarked for Lutheran Disaster Relief-Texas or by using this link:
