Movie Sunday!

Last night marked the end of another great year of God Squad!  Parents: please check the kids’ goodbye bags they brought home last night…there is a Frostees gift card in there also. If there was not, please let me know and I’ll get you one.  A couple bags were missing it, but I think we weeded those out prior.  Thank you for entrusting your children with us every Wednesday night this year…we had so much fun!

This year’s God Squad end of the year service projects were amazing!  Liz and RoxAnn’s class raised $119 themselves and in addition to $73 from the Children’s Offering and another $300 from the St. Paul Hope Circle, an incredible $492.80 was sent to the ELCA Good Gifts program!  Tom Acton’s class decided to give back to the middle school and send a large donation to the PAW Pantry (the school’s food pantry).  They fulfilled the list of “needs” and beyond, raising almost $200 for the cause. I dropped the items off Thursday and the school was so grateful!!

This Sunday, April 30 we will hold a “Movie Morning” for both God Squad and Sunday School students from 9 a.m. to 10:20.  This is a change from the prior plan to be outdoors because the weather forecast calls for cold and windy.  We will have donuts for breakfast.

May 7-All Sunday School kids are encouraged to attend the 10 a.m. service (even though Sunday School ends on April 30).  Beth Miller would love to have these kids sing some of the songs they have worked on all year for the congregation.  Please let Courtney or Beth know if your child cannot attend this service. Please direct questions to Beth Miller.

May 21-We will hold our annual gardening day for St. Paul children.  We’ll partner with Jim Nelson and Sue Brakhane to take the kids out to the children’s plot of our community garden for some fun outdoor work and play.  After, the kids will head inside to work on a project to take home.  We will begin around 9 a.m. so please plan to drop your kiddos off early that day if you are heading to the second service.  This event was so fun last year and we are so excited to do it again.

We will offer a version of cooking, art, and quilting one-day children’s classes also over the summer.  Dates to be announced soon (I hope to have registration ready by May 15).

Lastly, VBS is August 7-10 for 3 and 4-year Pre-K (must be potty trained) through sixth grade. We will need youth helpers and adult helpers for this event.  Incoming 7th-graders are eligible to volunteer to help as well (and encouraged to) but we do also need adults to help supervise.    Volunteers can do the full day or half day.   THANK YOU ALL!  Registration will open May 15.
