Sunday, February 15th after worship, Wayne will lead a discussion about the 2026 Proposed Budget. It will be in the room with the couches. Devotions from God Pause: Officers in the US Armed Forces “swear or affirm (I sometimes picked the latter) that [we] will support and defend the Constitution.” Chaplains find the two religious clauses of the First Amendment quite precious, and our work stems from this authority. Chaplains, whatever their religious affiliation (and particular “lens” within said affiliation) have vows, affirmations, and commitments from that Religious Organizations (my ELCA denomination’s Chaplain Corps Endorser verifies ours). What, therefore, do we swear or affirm? What are our shared theological principles? I begin in a manner of vulnerable humanity, destined for adoption in Christ (Ephesians 1:5), and live at the very pleasure of God, claiming Christ crucified and risen. We speak and act according to God’s wisdom, humbly acknowledging our weakness, and that all good, enlivening, or enlightening things accomplished by our hands are a demonstration of God’s Spirit of power. Join us for Monday morning Coffee Fellowship: The coffee pot will be on. Tea bags and hot chocolate packets are also available. No strings attached-just a chance to visit others in the comfort of the high school and junior high rooms at St. Paul’s at 9:00 am on Monday mornings. If Winterset schools are cancelled or delayed, there will be no coffee. Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the front most classroom near the church office. During the class, we invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. |
Blood Drive. We are needing treats for the blood drive on Tuesday, February 24th. Please consider bringing in homemade treats that can either be frozen and brought out the day of blood drive or dropped off the day of blood drive.
Lenten Services. All Lenten services will start at 7p.m. Wednesday evenings.

Join us for the Annual Meeting: The annual meeting will be held on February 22, 2026 right after the service. All our welcome. Copies of the annual meeting will be located on the bookcase in the hallway after the meeting.
Dinner with Friends. Each month, on the second Thursday, a host from St Paul Lutheran Church will choose a restaurant. The host will make the group reservation. All are welcome. If you are interested in joining this months dinner with friends, please contact Janelle (Ken) at 712-358-3046 to RSVP for March 12th. Restaurant of choice: Wilson Orchard in Cumming, IA.
The following month dinner with friends will be April 9th. Information to follow as it gets closer.
Choir. Choir practices on Wednesdays, September-May at 7:10pm- 8:15pm. All are welcome.
Severe Weather. As the winter season is upon us, our church follows the school closings. If Winterset schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather, there will be NO church activities. For weekend services and for general purposes, please use your own judgement.
