Devotions from God Pause: The Apostle Paul packs into a few verses the whole of the good news of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. He tells his friends in Colossae what God in Christ is doing in their lives and the world. He prays for them to remember that despite their struggles, because of Jesus’ love of God, it’s a whole new world—and he’s not talking Disney! Paul’s encouragement reminds us that it is Jesus’ love that makes us strong, patient, and joyful. Secured by this love, we bear “mature” fruit that comes from our “knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10). The echo of Monday’s Jeremiah text cannot be ignored. Authentic faith and knowledge of God is getting down to work with Jesus and sharing God’s love, without condescension, a feeling of superiority, or blaming others. Just as this love has been freely given to us, it can only be grown and shared if it is freely given to others. Join us for Meeting on Monday! The coffee pot will be on. Tea bags and hot chocolate packets also available. No strings attached – just a chance to visit with others in the comfort of the high school and junior high rooms at St. Paul’s. at 9:00 am on Monday mornings. Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the front most classroom near the church office. During the class, we invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. |
