He wants us to experience the full benefits of God’s mercy. Paul believes that living in Christ has the power to transform us and, in that transformation, we experience the gifts of God. Paul instructs his hearers to “have the same mind.” Reconciliation, mending fences, is crucial to standing firm in the Lord. Another plea is to rejoice with one another! Rejoicing with one another fortifies faith. Don’t be anxious, he continues, instead pray trusting that God meets us in our worries and takes them into God’s self. Then Paul gives us good faith habits to occupy our minds (v.8). Paul truly believes that God’s redemption is already here and we only need to welcome it by embracing these habits. He is so confident in God’s ultimate victory, that he can live in peace. He wants the same for all believers. Sunday Bible Study: Bible Study will meet at 11:00 a.m. following morning worship in the classroom near the church office. We invite questions, comments, and connections, as we expand upon the readings from the worship service. In the upcoming weeks we will be looking into the Gospel text.
