Company’s Coming – Readying the Church Property for Pastoral Candidates

All Church Work Day – Saturday, February 22, 8:00 am

Pastoral candidates will see our property through new eyes; could they imagine themselves serving our church? In anticipation of these visits, we want to be prepared with fresh, clean, uncluttered spaces. We all know how important first impressions are: Does our church reflect not only our mission, but also our love for all those we welcome here? To ready ourselves for company, let’s aim for a bright clean polished look, get rid of clutter, and put everything in its place. Much thanks to the decorating crew who have already (and always!) set the bar for an attractive, welcoming building

Join us on Saturday, February 22, starting at 8:00 am. Come and go as your schedule allows. We will have the lift here to clean the sanctuary glass and windows. Bring your favorite cleaning and polishing supplies for the areas where you’d like to work. Much thanks for your service.  Together, this will make light work and much fun.

Pastoral Candidate Names

Please feel free to complete a Nomination for Pastoral Candidate form if you know of a Pastor that you would like the Call Committee to consider.  Nomination forms can be found on the usher’s table.

Our Faith in Film Series

Our Faith in Film 2020 is the second year of this ecumenical project, a partnership between Winterset churches and The Iowa Theater. The aims are to share our faith during the season of Lent through well-chosen films, promote the unity of the churches of Winterset, and provide social ministries to Madison County citizens. Films will be shown Sunday at 5:30 pm; they are free to the public with a good will donation to CRISP or Matura Madison County.  Sheila Stewart and Ann Bartelt are now accepting your generous donations to this project through Sunday, Feb. 23. Checks may be made out to St. Paul.

Featured films are:

March 8: Overcomer (PG, 2019) is an audience favorite and an inspiriting movie for families that tells the story of a high school coach and a cross country runner who overcome life’s challenges through their faith. As one critic put it, “Overcomer is a renewer of faith, a giver of hope, and a testimony of Jesus Christ.”

March 29: Paul, Apostle of Christ (PG-13, 2018) is the story of Paul, imprisoned and awaiting his death sentence at the hands of Emporer Nero, and his friend Luke who risks his own life to visit Paul in prison. Another audience favorite, this movie is characterized as “An impressively made and portrayed story of forgiveness and faith during a time of fear and persecution.”

April 5: Jesus Christ Superstar (G, 1973) is the original film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular rock opera, starring the iconic Ted Neeley as Jesus Christ. The story tells the final weeks of Jesus’ life through unforgettable songs and imaginative staging.

Note that The Iowa will be showing “I Still Believe” (PG, 2020) as part of their regular screenings on Sundays, March 15 and 22 at 2:00 pm.
